Mohamed Salah continues to produce the goods for Liverpool with frightening consistency, with the Egypt international having started the Premier League season in fine form.

Salah has either scored or assisted in each of Liverpool’s first six games of the 2023/24 campaign, extending his record to 12 consecutive games with a goal involvement dating back to last season.

The 31-year-old is just the fifth player to have opened a Premier League season with a goal or assist in each of their team’s first six games and we’ve remembered every player to have achieved the feat.

The five players have scored or assisted in each of their team’s first six games of a Premier League season:

David Beckham (2000/01)

The turn of the millennium was peak David Beckham.

Kids everywhere were rushing to the barbers for the latest Becks-inspired haircut, his celebrity status was on a rocket trajectory, and Premier League defences were dreading deliveries from his famous right boot.

Three times in four seasons the Manchester United midfielder led the league for assists, with Beckham’s brilliant delivery a key weapon for the Premier League’s dominant side.

Beckham started the 2000/01 campaign in fine form for a Manchester United team in search of a third straight title. He scored four goals and provided four assists across the opening eight games of the Premier League season, recording a goal involvement in eight straight games.

He ended the campaign with another Premier League winners’ medal, top of the league for assists, and as runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year award.

Thierry Henry (2004/05)

Thierry Henry opened the 2004/05 campaign with a spectacular run of form for Arsenal, recording a staggering 12 goal involvements in the first six games of the Premier League season.

Henry had inspired Arsenal’s historic Premier League title win the previous season, as the Gunners completed the entire top-flight campaign without defeat. Arsenal looked to be heading towards another title after five consecutive wins to open their defence, but ended the campaign as runners-up to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

For Henry however, it was another exquisite individual season as the Frenchman claimed a third Premier League Golden Boot and second European Golden Shoe.

Sergio Agüero (2019/20)

Sergio Aguero became the first footballer in more than a decade to achieve the feat in 2019/20, as the Manchester City forward went goal-crazy across the campaign’s opening weeks.

Aguero scored in six successive fixtures to start the season, totalling eight goals and adding two assists for good measure.

Injury problems prevented the Argentine from continuing his hot streak however, with muscular and knee issues restricting Aguero to just 24 league games as Manchester City finished as runners-up to Liverpool.

Erling Haaland (2022/23)

Erling Haaland wrote his name into the record books during a spectacular first season in the Premier League in 2022/23.

Haaland scored 36 league goals to set a new benchmark for the most goals scored in a single Premier League campaign, a record-breaking run that began with a brace on debut at West Ham. Haaland scored 10 goals in his first six games in England’s top division, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

The Norwegian provided a goal or assist in the first NINE games of the season, setting a new record in the process.

He ended the campaign with FOUR Premier League hat-tricks, as many as names including Les Ferdinand, Jermain Defoe, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Fernando Torres and Dwight Yorke managed across their entire Premier League careers.

Haaland has already hit eight goals in the first six games of the 2023/24 campaign and is fast approaching 50 goals in the Premier League. He’s played just 41 games in the division to date.

Mohamed Salah (2023/24)

Mohamed Salah is the fifth player to record a goal or assist in each of the first six games of a Premier League season, following an impressive opening to the campaign at Liverpool.

Salah has produced goals and assists at an extraordinary rate since signing for Liverpool, averaging 0.97 goal involvements per game across his six seasons at Anfield.

The Egyptian has three goals and four assists from six games so far this season, with the 31-year-old having evolved into an elite creator. In 2021/22 he became just the fourth player to top the Premier League for goals and assists in the same season.
