Mbappe has ‘no intention’ of completing record £259 million Saudi transfer

Kylian Mbappe reportedly has ‘no intention’ of making a World Record move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

The PSG forward has announced his decision that he will not be signing an extension to his deal in the French capital which is due to expire in 12 months.

The Ligue 1 champions have set a deadline of July 31st for Mbappe to sign a new deal, or have warned that he will be sold to the highest bidder this summer as they look to recoup as much as possible for their prized asset.

“My position is very clear,” PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said this week. “I don’t want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract.

“We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can’t do that. This is a French club. He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it’s not my fault. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, that’s very clear.”

The 22-year-old – who has been left out of PSG’s pre-season tour – has been strongly linked with a high-profile move to Real Madrid for a number of years, and is thought to be keen on making the move to the Bernabeu on a free transfer next summer.

However, Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal made the headlines this week as they made a gargantuan World Record offer to sign the World Cup winner, offering PSG a €300 million (£259m) transfer fee, while offering the player a jaw-dropping one-year contract worth €700m (£600m).

According to the Mail though, despite the eye-watering sums on offer and the option to still move to Real Madrid for free next summer, Mbappe has ‘no intention’ of making a move to the Middle East, and has ‘declined’ to speak to the Saudi delegation.

They add that PSG feel ‘certain’ that Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid next summer, where he could command a £138m signing-on fee.

Reports earlier this week claimed that five Premier League clubs are interested in signing the France captain.
