Arsenal are set to complete the signings of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this week, with the Gunners hopeful of confirming the deals before the squad travel to the USA for their pre-season tour this weekend.

Arsenal have agreed a £105m club record deal to sign Rice from West Ham United and the latter are ready to sign the contracts and finalise the switch.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Hammers are waiting on Arsenal’s legal team to approve the ‘final wording of the deal’ before signing to confirm Rice’s record move to north London.

The deal for Jurrien Timber could be completed sooner with hope that the defender could be signed in time to feature in Thursday’s friendly at FC Nurnberg. The defender has completed his medical with Arsenal ahead of a £38m move from Ajax.

It is understood that Timber has been signed to feature at right-back for Mikel Arteta’s side, despite predominantly starting in a central role for Ajax.

His arrival hints at a continuation of the flexible defensive system seen last season, which saw left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko invert into midfield and right-back Ben White form a central defensive three on occasion.

Arsenal have began to offload names in a bid to recoup funds with Granit Xhaka having completed a £21.5m move to Bayer Leverkusen. Folarin Balogun is also expected to move on, but is valued at around £50m at Arsenal after an impressive spell on loan at Reims.
