Premier League teams have returned for pre-season training as preparations ramp up ahead of the 2023/24 campaign’s kick off next month.

Once again England’s elite will be travelling the world for pre-season fixtures, as Premier League sides fulfil marketing objectives and get vital minutes on the pitch.

Every Premier League club’s pre-season summer schedule.

Arsenal

Arsenal began their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw with Watford last week, hosted at the club’s London Colney training ground on Saturday. The Gunners will next travel to Germany to face Nurnberg, before heading to the United States for glamour friendlies with an MLS All-Star side, Manchester United and Barcelona.

The north Londoners then take on Monaco at the Emirates, before the season’s traditional curtain-raiser as Arsenal face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa begin their pre-season campaign with a Midlands match-up against Walsall, before travelling to the United States to take on Newcastle, Fulham and Brentford in the Premier League Summer Series.

Villa will host Lazio at Walsall’s Poundland Bescot Stadium in early August, before concluding their summer schedule against Unai Emery’s former side, Valencia.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth feature in five fixtures this summer, travelling to Spain for clashes with Hibernian and Maccabi Tel Aviv as pre-season gets underway. The Cherries return to more familiar settings with an all-south coast clash with Southampton, before home dates with Atalanta and FC Lorient.

Brentford

Brentford are one of several Premier League clubs signed up for the Summer Series in the USA, where the Bees will take on Fulham, Brighton and Aston Villa at various venues in July.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton also cross the Atlantic to take part in the USA-hosted Summer Series, with clashes against Premier League rivals Chelsea, Brentford and Newcastle in July. Roberto De Zerbi’s team return to the Amex Stadium to take on Rayo Vallecano on August 6.

Burnley

Burnley will return to the Premier League this season and Vincent Kompany’s side have began their summer with behind-closed-doors friendly wins over Fleetwood and Burton.

The Clarets next face Belgium’s Genk on Saturday 22nd July, before flying to Portugal for a week-long training camp in Lisbon. Another friendly will take place on July 29 against unnamed opposition.

Chelsea

Perhaps unsurprisingly given Todd Boehly’s takeover of the club, Chelsea will spend the summer in the United States.

The west Londoners face Hollywood star-owned Wrexham in North Carolina on 19 July, before clashes with Brighton, Newcastle and Fulham in the Premier League Summer Series. Chelsea will also take on Borussia Dortmund in Chicago before returning to England for the new campaign.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Roy Hodgson will remain in charge for another season after his successful return to the club and the Premier League’s oldest ever manager will begin his latest pre-season with a hat-trick of games in the capital.

Palace will then join the large contingent of Premier League teams heading to America for friendly fixtures with Milionarios and Europa League winners Sevilla, before a home date with Lyon to conclude their summer campaign.

Everton

Sean Dyche has opted to keep things simple this pre-season. Everton have headed to Switzerland for a pre-season training camp and will take on Swiss second division side Stade Nyonnais in their first friendly fixture, before a British-based schedule.

North-west opposition await in Tranmere and Bolton, before clashes with Championship side Stoke and Sporting Lisbon round out Everton’s pre-season fixtures. Dyche will hope new arrivals can join his team for the programme, with Everton yet to make a signing this summer.

Fulham

Liverpool

Liverpool fans will get a first chance to see new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in action when the Reds take on Karlsruher and Greuther Furth, before returning to Singapore after a successful visit to the Far East last summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s team take on Leicester and Bayern Munich in Singapore, before a meeting with German side Darmstadt. The fixture will be played at Preston North End due to work taking place on Anfield, which will increase the capacity to around 61,000.

Luton Town

25 July: v Ipswich Town (N)

Luton Town are preparing for a first-ever Premier League campaign after promotion last season, though will take on a reduced schedule in pre-season as things stand.

Luton are unable to play pre-season games at Kenilworth Road due improvements being made at the ground, so will face Ipswich at Colchester United before a trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

Manchester City

Manchester City enter the new season as treble winners and face a series of glamourous pre-season ties.

Pep Guardiola’s team take on fellow City Football Group team and J1 League champions Yokohama F Marinos, before meetings with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in Japan and South Korea respectively.

City then meet Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 6. It will be the fifth time in six seasons that City will contest for the trophy.

Manchester United

Manchester United have one of the busiest schedules of the summer with Erik ten Hag’s team involved in eight pre-season fixtures.

The jet-setting Red Devils first meet old rivals Leeds in Norway, before taking on Lyon in Edinburgh. United then travel to the United States for a pre-season tour for the first time in five years, where the club will take on Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

United end their pre-season campaign with back-to-back games against Champions League qualifiers RC Lens at Old Trafford and Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.

Newcastle

Newcastle begin their pre-season campaign with a clash against local neighbours Gateshead, before taking on Rangers at Ibrox in a testimonial match for Allan McGregor.

The Magpies – who will compete in the Champions League for the first time in two decades this season – will then travel to the USA for the Summer Series and will face Aston Villa, Chelsea, Brighton.

St James’ Park will then host the inaugural Sela Cup in early August, where Newcastle take on Fiorentina and Villarreal.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest begin pre-season against local rivals Notts County, before embarking on a tour of Europe for pre-season 2023.

Forest will take on Valencia and Levante in Spain, before clashes with PSV in Eindhoven, Rennes at St George’s Park and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United are back in the Premier League after a two-season absence and will kick-off pre-season with a local fixture against Chesterfield. A warm weather camp in Portugal will follow with a clash against Estoril included, before returning to England to take on Rotherham, Girona, Derby and Stuttgart.

Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou’s first pre-season in charge of Tottenham will begin in his native Australia, as the north Londoners make the long trip to Perth to face London rivals West Ham.

Spurs will meet relegated Leicester in Thailand five days later and round out their trip to the Far East and Australia with a clash against Roma in Singapore.

Shakhtar Donetsk are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in early August as pre-season is concluded, a potentially awkward encounter given Spurs’ impending signing of Manor Solomon from Shakhtar as a free agent.

Solomon is at the centre of a contract dispute between Shakhtar and FIFA over players employed in war-torn Ukraine, after a decision to allow foreign nationals to suspend their contracts. Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin has threatened to sue Spurs.

West Ham

West Ham enter the new season as Europa Conference League winners and will look to kick-on from that success despite the exit of Declan Rice.

David Moyes side take on non-league Boreham Wood on July 10, before the long trip to Australia to face Perth Glory and Tottenham.

West Ham return home to face Dagenham & Redbridge before a trip to France to meet Rennes, before ending pre-season in Germany at Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Wolves

Wolves began pre-season by beating Vitoria 2-1, as goals from Owen Farm and Matheus Cunha earned Julen Lopetegui’s side a win. Wolves have just one further fixture planned at present, taking on Rennes on August 5.
