Spurs set to reject second Bayern bid for Harry Kane

Tottenham are set to turn down Bayern Munich’s second bid for Harry Kane, worth a guaranteed €80m (£68.4m).

Bayern have made an improved bid worth close to an initial £70m plus add‑ons for Kane, after Spurs rejected an opening offer from the Bundesliga champions.

The north Londoners value Kane at around £100m, despite the fact that he has shown little indication that he is prepared to sign an extension to a contract that expires next summer.

Spurs run the risk of losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Bayern’s second bid is not enough to persuade the Premier League side to sell.

Spurs will demand a higher guaranteed fee before considering any proposal for Kane, who scored 30 league goals for the club last season.

Bayern will ‘insist’ on a deal for Kane and are hopeful of making progress on a potential move for the England captain, who is viewed as the ideal candidate to replace the goal-threat lost following Robert Lewandowski’s sale to Barcelona last summer.

Kane is understood to be open to the move to Bayern as he chases elusive silverware. The German giants won an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title last season and will be considered among the favourites for Champions League success next season.
