Tottenham have turned down an opening offer from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich are interested in a deal to sign the England captain and have submitted an opening proposal for the forward worth €70m plus add-ons, but have seen the offer rejected.

Kane has just a year to run on his current contract and Spurs run the risk of losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer next summer, with Bayern hoping to take advantage of Kane’s contract situation with a cut-price move.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Spurs have rejected Bayern’s bid and will demand a much higher fee to sell Kane this summer.

Thomas Tuchel has made Kane his leading transfer target as Bayern look to sign a centre-forward, following the failure to replace Robert Lewandowski with a like-for-like replacement after the Poland international’s departure to Barcelona last summer.

Kane scored 30 league goals during an impressive individual campaign last season, despite a disappointing season for Spurs that saw the north Londoners finish eighth in the Premier League table and miss out on European qualification.

Spurs are understood to value Kane – the club’s all-time record goalscorer with 280 goals in 485 appearances – at around €100m.
