Newcastle are preparing to raid the Premier League’s relegated sides and have identified five potential signings from relegated rivals.

Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the club’s Champions League return next season and the Magpies are targeting value-for-money deals by considering players who have been Relegated to the Championship.

The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle have encountered problems in pursuits of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai, with the club quoted ‘extremely high’ figures given the well-known resources of the Magpies’ Saudi Arabian ownership.

Newcastle have turned their attention to those relegated from the Premier League as the club look to ‘stretch their transfer budget’ with value deals.

Leicester duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes have been named as targets, though the Magpies will face competition from a number of clubs with Tottenham also reportedly interested in a double deal for the Foxes pair.

Newcastle are also keen on Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters and Romeo Lavia, but are reluctant to meet the £50m asking price for team-mate James Ward-Prowse despite interest in the midfielder, who turns 29 in November.

Leeds’ Tyler Adams has been mentioned as a potential alternative to Ward-Prowse with the US international having impressed at Elland Road, despite the club’s relegation.
