Amrabat ‘prefers Liverpool move’ over Spurs

Sofyan Amrabat would prefer a move to Liverpool over Tottenham as leading clubs register an interest in the Moroccan World Cup star.

Amrabat was outstanding as Morocco became the first African team to reach a World Cup semi-final, with his performances having attracted interest of several clubs ahead of the January transfer window.

Liverpool and Spurs are both understood to hold an interest in the Fiorentina midfielder, while Atletico Madrid have also been credited as admirers of the 26-year-old.

French outlet Foot Mercato, via Inside Futbol, are reporting that Amrabat’s preference would be a move to Liverpool, despite Spurs’ long-standing interest.

Spurs were linked with a move for Amrabat last January, before turning their attention to the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.

Antonio Conte remains keen on a deal, though Liverpool could move ahead of their Premier League rivals as Jurgen Klopp looks to reinforce his midfield.

Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract next summer, while both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are into their thirties.

It is believed Fiorentina would accept an offer of around €40m for Amrabat, who will have 18 months remaining on his contract next month.
