Chloe Kelly’s extra-time winner sealed a 2-1 win over record eight-time winners Germany at Wembley, securing England a first major tournament since the 1966 men’s World Cup.

Kelly comeback seals success
Chloe Kelly’s final winner provided one of the narratives of the tournament, with the Manchester City forward having almost missed the tournament following an ACL injury.
On as a substitute, the 24-year-old picked the perfect time to score her first competitive goal for the Lionesses.
Chloe Kelly grew up six miles from Wembley taking the 92 bus from Ealing to games.
She would have missed the tournament had it happened as planned in 2021 after a dreaded ACL injury in May last year.

Football’s coming came home
We’re pretty sure The Lightning Seeds, David Baddiel and Frank Skinner had little to no idea just how much ‘Three Lions’ would become associated with every decent England performance at a major tournament.
This makes me very proud. Thank again Lionesses. https://t.co/N8ydlmfX3c

Congratulations from England players past and present
Football is a simple game. 22 women chase a ball for 90 minutes and, at the end, England actually win. Congratulations @lionesses. Fabulous.
