Following his impressive performance in the G1 Climax 33 semifinal, Ospreay introduced the world to the “IWGP United Kingdom Heavyweight Championship.”

This modified title maintains the original design but proudly showcases the UK flag, seamlessly replacing “United States” with “United Kingdom.” The unveiling adds an intriguing twist to the wrestling scene, particularly with AEW’s All In event just around the corner at Wembley Stadium in London, a mere two weeks away.

Speaking from Sumo Hall, Tokyo, where the shift was made, Ospreay expressed his sentiment about the change, swapping his former US Title for the newly customized version. His words encapsulated the significance of the moment and the inspiration behind his decision.

The belt doesn’t make the man, the man makes the belt, and I am sick to death of carrying something I have no attachment to. I don’t want to carry this [United States] flag. I’ve been to America and been the best in the world. Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan — I am the best in the world. The best in the world is from the United Kingdom. So to the IWGP committee, have this [The US Title belt], I don’t want it. I want a championship that suits my needs.
