When most people think of Romero Dunno, they likely imagine one of the world’s top-ranked skateboarders. But to understand where he got his skills, it’s important to first understand his childhood and adversity. Born in the Dominican Republic, Romero faced many challenges early on in life – including poverty and violence. Despite these challenges, he persevered, and eventually became one of the most successful skateboarders in history. In this blog post, we’ll explore what led to Romero’s success, and how he overcame obstacles during his childhood to become one of the world’s greatest athletes.

At just nine years old, Romero was already dealing with some major hardships. He was living in poverty with his family, and was constantly struggling against gangs who would try to extort money from him and his relatives. Even more difficult was the fact that Romero had a severe disability – he could not walk or stand properly due to a birth defect. Despite these challenges, however, he never gave up on himself. In fact, he started skating at an incredibly young age as a way to take advantage of his limited mobility – something that would later prove to be instrumental in his success as a skateboarder.

From Homeless to Amateur Fighter

Romero Dunno always loved sports. As a child, he would watch boxing and wrestling matches on TV and dream of one day becoming a professional boxer. Unfortunately, Romero didn’t have the privilege to attend a good school and ended up homeless at the age of 16.

With no other option, Romero decided to turn to boxing as his new source of income. He trained hard and quickly became one of the best amateur boxers in the country. In 2006, Romero participated in the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. He was knocked out in the quarterfinals by eventual champion Guillermo Rigondeaux from Cuba.”

Dunno’s story shows that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. After being homeless and unable to afford boxing equipment or training facilities, he overcame incredible adversity to become one of America‘s top amateur boxers. Despite this success, Romero chose not to pursue a professional career because he knew that he could do even more if he focused on his education.

Today, Romero is an undergraduate student at Brown University studying political science and international relations. He continues to box occasionally and has even qualified for the U.S Olympic Trials.”
