Sergio Reguilon discusses his close bond with Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz

The feature, originally published in the official magazine “Inside United,” offers fans the opportunity to submit their questions on a wide range of topics.

Sam, a supporter from the United Kingdom, was curious about Sergio’s favorite tennis player. After witnessing fellow Spaniard Alcarez in action and spending time with the Wimbledon champion, Sergio’s response was clear.

“Well, I have good relations with my boy Alcarez,” explained the left-back, who is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. “I follow the tennis for him now more.”

“Before, I followed but not like now. I try to watch every game he plays. We are always in touch and well, we are talking about the games he has and the games I have.”

“We are always talking about these things.”

Although the defender’s opinion may be somewhat biased, he firmly believes that Alcarez has the potential to surpass Novak Djokovic, the player he defeated in London earlier this year, and become the undisputed best male tennis player in the world.

“Well, for me, he is still young, he knows that but he has the capacity to be the number one in history,” Reguilon emphasized. “For me, that’s my opinion. My personal opinion. I know we are friends but it’s my personal opinion!”

Alcarez, at only 20 years old, secured his second Grand Slam title by winning the Wimbledon championship, following his victory at the US Open the previous year.

He’s seen as a future dominator of the tennis world, and he can rely on the support of his friend while also closely monitoring Sergio’s progress at Old Trafford, especially after his positive introduction to the team.

Reguilon has been sidelined due to injury, but he’s expected to have benefited from the international break. The Premier League is set to resume for the Reds on Saturday night with a match against Sheffield United. Manager Erik ten Hag is scheduled to provide an update on his squad during his press conference ahead of the game against the Blades.
