Alisha Lehmann’s missing presence disappoints male Arsenal vs Aston Villa followers in WSL

A group of male soccer enthusiasts expressed their disappointment when Alisha Lehmann was left on the bench during Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat against Arsenal. The Women’s Super League match took place at the Emirates and was broadcast live on BBC One on October 15th.

With a massive social media following numbering in the millions, 24-year-old Lehmann is widely recognized as one of the game’s prominent stars.

However, the Swiss winger was not included in Villa’s starting lineup by manager Carla Ward, following consecutive losses to Manchester United and Liverpool in the first two games of the season, both of which she had started.

Many men watching from home admitted that she was the primary reason they had tuned in. One individual asked, “Is Alisha Lehmann playing?” Another shared on social media, “Short story: Turned #WSL on to watch Arsenal vs Villa. Alisha Lehmann on the bench. Turned off.”

A third commenter expressed, “I’d only be interested in going over the Emirates today to see Alisha Lehmann not going to lie,” while a fourth remarked, “Arsenal women fc playing and all I’m interested in is Alisha Lehmann… I’m down bad.”

One additional comment was made, “Alisha Lehmann on the bench is a joke. Coach is the enemy of entertainment.”

Lehmann was eventually subbed in during the seventh of the 12 minutes added on at the end of the game.

By that time, Arsenal had scored two stoppage-time goals, courtesy of Katie McCabe and Alessia Russo, effectively cancelling out Mayumi Pacheco’s first-half opener.

As a result, Villa finds themselves just one spot from the bottom of the table based on goal difference, with Bristol City also losing their first three games of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal secured their first victory after losing to Liverpool and drawing with United. They were further boosted by the return of England star Beth Mead from injury.
