Manchester City set to triple salary for rising star responsible for Cole Palmer’s Chelsea move

Manchester City is extending the contract of their young talent, Oscar Bobb, for the long term. The 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder is set to substantially increase his earnings as he commits to a deal that secures his stay at the club until June 2029.

Bobb, aged 20, currently has two years remaining on his existing £12,000-per-week contract. However, his weekly wage is set to rise to £36,000 as he joins Manchester City’s first-team squad at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola has expressed his admiration for the young right-sided playmaker, whose emergence played a pivotal role in City’s decision to transfer England Under-21 international Cole Palmer to Chelsea during the summer.

The Spanish manager firmly believes that Bobb, who recently received his first senior national team call-up for Norway, is an even more promising prospect. Therefore, there are no intentions to send City’s two-time Under-23 Player of the Year out on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

Much like his approach with Phil Foden and Rico Lewis, Guardiola intends to oversee the winger’s development personally. Oscar Bobb, who was signed in June 2019 from Norwegian club Valerenga, has made five appearances this season, including his first starting role in the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle.

Following that game, Guardiola lauded Bobb’s performance despite the match result, describing it as “perfect.” He added, “Oscar was more than brilliant in all parts, offence and defence.”

“He’s showcased versatility, playing as a number 10, striker, and winger. His intelligent movement in the midfield pockets is commendable, and he works diligently without the ball.”
