Reportedly, David Beckham is in contention for an unexpected position at Manchester United. However, this possibility hinges on the successful outcome of the Qatari takeover effort spearheaded by Sheikh Jassim.
For nearly a year now, Manchester United has been on the market, with the Glazer family seeking a £6 billion price to relinquish their control of Old Trafford. Nevertheless, the club’s future remains uncertain, as no potential buyer has yet met this valuation.
Currently, Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the leading contenders to make an investment. The latter is willing to assume a minority partnership role, allowing the Glazers to retain their control over United.
Conversely, Sheikh Jassim aims for a complete takeover deal at £5 billion. Should his bid prove successful, he intends to extend a high-profile position to the iconic Red Devils legend, David Beckham.
Beckham dropped a substantial hint about Manchester United’s future during the Qatar Grand Prix held on Saturday. Fans interpreted his comments as an endorsement of Sheikh Jassim.
Furthermore, it has been reported by talkSPORT that if the Qatari royal does take control, Beckham will be offered an ambassadorial role at Old Trafford, similar to the role he held when Qatar hosted the World Cup last year.
However, Beckham is not the sole individual being considered for a position, as Sheikh Jassim is reportedly planning to appoint several other Manchester United legends as club ambassadors as well.
