Sadio Mane’s celebration in Saudi Arabia leaves former teammate Roberto Firmino furious

In Saudi Arabia, Sadio Mane caused a stir when he celebrated a goal by leaping onto the back of his former Liverpool teammate, Roberto Firmino, despite the fact that they now play for opposing teams.

During their time at Anfield, these two were a crucial part of a potent attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah. Together, they achieved remarkable success, winning the Champions League, Premier League, and both domestic cups under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

However, changes occurred, and Mane was transferred to Bayern Munich in 2022 for £35 million. Unfortunately, a troublesome first season and a public dispute with manager Thomas Tuchel led to his transfer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for £24 million in the summer, where he now earns a staggering £650,000 per week.

Firmino, on the other hand, stayed at Anfield for one more season before leaving as a free agent following the expiration of his contract, concluding a seven-year tenure at Liverpool during which he scored 111 goals in 362 games. Despite their successful partnership at Liverpool, both players, who are now 31 years old, are enjoying lucrative contracts in the Saudi Pro League.

In a thrilling encounter on Friday, Mane’s Al-Nassr faced off against Al-Ahli, with Mane’s team emerging victorious 4-3, thanks in part to a double from Cristiano Ronaldo and a contribution from Anderson Talisca. Notable names like Franck Kessie and Riyad Mahrez also found the scoresheet for the visitors.

However, it was after Talisca’s second goal of the night, putting Al-Nassr 3-1 ahead at halftime, that Mane’s celebratory antics ruffled the feathers of his former strike partner, Firmino. Mane hopped onto Firmino’s back as the rest of his teammates rushed to congratulate Talisca at the corner flag. Firmino, clearly taken aback, turned to find Mane with his arm around him. After exchanging glances, Firmino turned and walked away.

With this victory, Al-Nassr has secured five consecutive wins after suffering back-to-back defeats in their first two league matches, while Al-Ahli has now lost two of their last three games after starting the season with four consecutive wins.
