Emerson Royal couldn’t hide his joy after becoming a father just hours following Tottenham’s victory over Sheffield United. The defender had celebrated his team’s comeback win with his teammates the day before his son’s birth.
Royal, aged 24, experienced a whirlwind weekend, departing from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to make a 5,396-mile journey to a hospital in Montes Claros, Brazil. Accompanied by friends Wellington Cristiano, Hélio Azanha, and Everton Ferreira, he embarked on a private jet to ensure he would be present for the birth of his baby boy.
He managed to arrive in time for the momentous occasion and took to Instagram to share the news, posting two remarkable photos. One image captured the Brazilian cutting his son’s umbilical cord, while the second featured his partner, Estela Braga, 26, in a family selfie.
In the caption, he wrote, “17/09/2023… At 17:34, our greatest love was born! ‘Son, we love you so much.'”
Emerson Royal and Estela received an outpouring of support, with numerous comments left on the social media post.
Former Spurs star Lucas Moura commented, “Glory be to GOD! May GOD bless this family you are forming.”
Olympiacos ace Rodinei De Almeida wrote, “❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏿🙌🏿,” and Portugal international William Carvalho congratulated the family.
The couple’s love story began in 2020, with Emerson occasionally sharing affectionate messages to Estela on social media. Estela has been a visible presence at Spurs games, showing her unwavering support for both Royal and the club. She announced her pregnancy on March 16 when she was 12 weeks along.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Emerson Royal has had a promising start with Tottenham, making four appearances and scoring once in the Premier League. The victory over Sheffield United has helped maintain the North London side’s unbeaten start to the league season under manager Ange Postecoglou.
