Manchester United 1-3 Brighton: Erik ten Hag’s side slump to nightmare defeat as impressive Seagulls heap more misery on struggling hosts at Old Trafford

  • Manchester United have now lost three out of their opening five league games
  • The Red Devils went behind in the first-half after Danny Welbeck scored
  • Further goals from Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro sealed victory for the visitors

Brighton completed a third consecutive Premier League Victory over Manchester United as Roberto de Zerbi‘s Impressive Visitors Secured a deserved 3-1 win on Saturday.

Former Man United striker Danny Welbeck capitalised on poor defensive organisation from United to put the hosts in front from close-range after 20 minutes.

United started as the better team but were unable to capitalise on early chances before fading as they have similarly done in recent defeats against Tottenham and Arsenal.

Rasmus Hojlund thought he had pulled the hosts level on his Old Trafford debut after netting midway through the first-half before seeing his goal chalked out after a replay by VAR.

Marcus Rashford had carried the ball over the byline in the build-up as Hojlund was denied a first career goal for the Red Devils.

United academy graduate Hannibal Mejbri inspired hope of a comeback after scoring his first senior goal for the club with a devastating finish from outside the box in the 73rd minute.
