Man United are scrambling to bolster two positions, Liverpool want another midfielder, Chelsea seek more firepower and Spurs are chasing a £50m star… what does YOUR club need ahead of Friday’s deadline?

Time is fast running out for the Premier League clubs to wrap up their transfer business as we hurtle towards Friday’s 11pm deadline.

Some top-flight clubs have left it until the last minute to bring players in, others have seen changed circumstances force them back into the market, and others are essentially done.

Mail Sport takes you through what each of the 20 Premier League clubs still needs in the final hours of the summer window.

Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag is among several managers who still want new signings

ARSENAL

Arsenal looked well set for the season until new signing Jurrien Timber suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will rule him out for several months.

It could mean Mikel Arteta makes a late dive into the transfer market for additional defensive cover, especially as William Saliba’s back injury proved to costly in last season’s title race.

Rob Holding’s possible departure – Real Mallorca, Sevilla and Luton are linked – would further reduce that pool of options but the presence of versatile defenders like Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu may mean Arteta feels he’s adequately covered.

The priority in the final days is likely to be offloading fringe players to raise funds. Folarin Balogun’s £38m move to Monaco has certainly swollen the coffers.

Jurrien Timber’s serious knee injury could force Arsenal back into the market for a defender

ASTON VILLA

Injuries have promoted action at Villa, where much of their summer business was concluded early.

Tyrone Mings suffered knee ligament damage against Newcastle on the opening day and so a loan move for Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet, formerly of Tottenham, is being considered.

Unai Emery can call upon Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa, Diego Carlos and Calum Chambers but with a Europa Conference League campaign also in the offing, an extra defensive body could be handy.

A left-back is also a possibility – Sevilla’s Marcos Acuna has been linked with Villa for several weeks and Lucas Digne, Villa’s current left-back, could be departing.

BOURNEMOUTH

A need for extra competition up front for Dominic Solanke and Kieffer Moore has seen the Cherries linked with Leicester City’s Zambian forward Patson Daka.

Daka hasn’t been involved for Leicester yet this season and there has also been interest from Everton, who preferred a loan Deal.

His £25m price tag may prove too much for Bournemouth, who have just spent £20m on American midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds.

Leicester’s Zambian forward Patson Daka has emerged as a £25million target for Bournemouth

BRENTFORD

There shouldn’t be too much else for Brentford to do having strengthened in attack with Kevin Schade’s permanent move, defence by signing Nathan Collins, and in goal, with Mark Flekken replacing David Raya.

They have apparently finally given up on Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson after multiple bids, with Tottenham the favourites to sign him.

But Thomas Frank still would like a midfielder and the Bees are considering a late move for Marseille’s Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who shone during their World Cup semi-final run last year.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

A mad summer of outgoings at the Amex, with Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister creating a midfield hole.

The signing of Carlos Baleba from Lille in a deal worth £23.2m will ease that – he may only be 19 but Roberto De Zerbi has already called him ‘the future of the club.’ No pressure then.

Late possibilities include attacking cover for Julio Enciso after the Paraguayan suffered an injury and maybe at left-back.

Brighton have completed the signing of Carlos Baleba in a deal worth £23.2million from Lille

BURNLEY

Lots of ins and outs at Turf Moor as the Clarets look to assemble a squad strong enough to stay in the Premier League after promotion.

Vincent Kompany needs a left-back and Ian Maatsen, who impressed on loan from Chelsea last season, would be ideal. Burnley will face competition from West Ham and Borussia Dortmund if Maatsen doesn’t sign the deal he has been offered at Stamford Bridge.

Another target is the PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko to bolster attacking options. Burnley have already seen a club record £17m offer rejected by the Dutch club – but time remains.

CHELSEA

You really would think Chelsea’s spending is done now but there they are putting in a cheeky approach to Arsenal for Emile Smith Rowe. That was given short shrift.

Mauricio Pochettino does want to further strengthen in attack, however, and Barcelona pair Raphinha and Ferran Torres have emerged as targets.

Both players have slipped to the status of back-up at Barca behind Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal lately, which could smooth the path to a deal.

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is on the Blues’ radar ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline

CRYSTAL PALACE

It’s been a pretty quiet summer at Selhurst Park but they have now got a £20m deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson over the line.

The final few days will no doubt be spent fending off interest in Eberechi Eze and Palace ideally want to be adding attacking options rather than losing them.

EVERTON

Everton hope that the £25m signing of Beto from Udinese, confirmed on Tuesday, will solve their goalscoring woes with Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined with a cheekbone fracture.

A move for Leeds’ exciting Italy international winger Wilfried Gnonto appears to have fallen by the wayside after he returned to Daniel Farke’s squad.

In an ideal world, Everton need a quality centre-half too, having leaked six goals in their first three games – all defeats. But money is seriously tight.

Everton have completed the signing of Portuguese striker Beto in a £25m deal from Udinese

FULHAM

Late business seems likely at Craven Cottage. The £13.5m signing of defender Timothy Castagne from Leicester was confirmed on Thursday and Swansea keeper Steven Benda is close to joining.

But attack needs to be the priority after Aleksandar Mitrovic moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

To that end, a deal has been agreed with Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos and just need approval from the player himself.

Ocampos, a right winger as opposed to a Mitrovic-style centre forward, has a very good pedigree and won the Europa League last season.

Fulham are also interested in Everton’s Alex Iwobi.

LIVERPOOL

In a seemingly never-ending theme this summer, Liverpool would still like to sign another midfielder.

While Wataru Endo will serve as a protective shield for the defence, a central midfielder who can fulfil a number of functions is now the priority.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, also linked with Manchester United, has now agreed terms on a move to Anfield and the Dutchman is keen on a Premier League move. There is a feeling that a transfer will be more likely if Bayern moev for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.

LUTON TOWN

Luton have been busy in the market all summer as they aim to be competitive in their first Premier League campaign.

The final piece of the jigsaw for Rob Edwards is now likely to be a central defender and they have joined the race for Arsenal’s Rob Holding.

The Hatters will face competition from two Spanish clubs – Real Mallorca and Sevilla.

One defender on his way, however, is Manchester United’s Teden Mengi.

A move for Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has stalled, however.

MANCHESTER CITY

It’s unusual for City to still be chasing players once the season has kicked-off but there has been serious interest in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes as Pep Guardiola seeks strength-in-depth.

Nunes refused to train in an effort to push through a move to the Etihad and that tactic may well have worked with a verbal agreement now in place between the two clubs for a £47m move.

Gary O’Neil had sounded confident that Nunes would stay at Molineux but City’s willingness to walk away led to Wolves softening their stance.

MANCHESTER UNITED

It all feels very last-minute at United with circumstance dictating they could do with reinforcements at both left-back and in defensive midfield.

Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have led to a scramble, with talks ongoing with Chelsea for the £5m loan of Marc Cucurella. Brentford’s Rico Henry and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon are other possibilities.

In midfield, United have long been linked with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat but there is frustration at the slow progress on any deal, which could now be just a loan.

Casemiro was exposed playing alongside Mason Mount in United’s first two games of the season and looks like he needs help in defensive midfield – but players need to be sold to raise money first.

United are close to completing the signing of Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce to serve as understudy to Andre Onana.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Eddie Howe is adamant Newcastle’s summer business is complete after they bought Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento, then took Lewis Hall on loan.

Maybe Sven Botman’s injury suffered in Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool will prompt a late dive into the market for defensive cover.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

It could be a classic case of ‘don’t go to bed just yet’ for Nottingham Forest fans on Friday night as they scramble to get more players in.

A deal has been agreed with Arsenal to take Nuno Tavares, the full-back, on loan with a £12m option to buy. The Brazilian central defender Murillo, 21, is inbound from Corinthians for £13.75m.

Forest are also in talks with Bologna over a swap deal that could see them sign Nicolas Dominguez in exchange for midfielder Remo Freuler.

They have also submitted an offer for Leicester’s Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and remain in talks over Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Forest have also held talks over former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, now at Turkish club Fenerbahce.

It’s busy by the Trent.

SHEFFIELD UNITED

Cameron Archer’s arrival for £18.5m has eased some of the worries over the strength of Sheffield United’s squad on their Premier League return.

But they have lost key players Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge and Paul Heckingbottom’s efforts to get Man City’s James McAtee on loan for another season face competition from Wolves, Leicester and Ajax.

There have been talks with Manchester United over loaning their Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Ange Postecoglou has made clear Tottenham’s priority this week is to trim the squad – but that doesn’t mean their incomings are finished.

A deal for Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson may still happen if the price is right but it’s likely to take £50m to outbid Brentford.

Johnson will certainly add even more sparks to Postecoglou’s exciting-looking attack.

WEST HAM UNITED

The Hammers, after a slow start which drew criticism, have enjoyed a good summer in the market with Mohammed Kudus their latest arrival.

With the midfield now sorted, attention turns to their pursuit of a striker. Talks for Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike have been revived, while parallel talks with Corinthians for Yuri Alberto are ongoing. Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri is another target.

Elsewhere, there could be defensive reinforcements for David Moyes with left-back Maatsen on their radar and an approach has been made for Peterborough’s Ronnie Edwards, an England Under 20 international.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

There has been next-to-no money to spend for Gary O’Neil all summer yet Wolves could do with additions in a number of positions.

They are close to signing the Paraguayan winger Enzo Gonzalez, 18, from Club Libertad for £5m and Wolves continue to monitor the Girona centre-back Santi Bueno.

Man City youngster Tommy Doyle will move to Molineux on loan in a separate deal to the Nunes one that includes a £5m option to buy.
