Kepa Arrizabalaga left UNIMPRESSED by enthusiastic welcome Robert Sanchez received by Chelsea staff after his £25m arrival from Brighton

Kepa Arrizabalaga is understood to be a little unimpressed by the enthusiastic greeting afforded to new Signing Robert Sanchez by some Chelsea staff.

The 28-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for £72million, is set to be unveiled by Carlo Ancelotti’s side on Tuesday after Thibaut Courtois Suffered an ACL injury in training that could rule him out for the remainder of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side also had an offer from Bayern Munich for Arrizabalaga, with Manuel Neuer still fighting to return to action after he suffered a broken leg in a skiing accident in December.

Chelsea signed Sanchez (middle) earlier this august for a fee of £25million and he made his debut for the club on Sunday during their 1-1 draw against Liverpool

It comes as Arrizabalaga has now agreed a season-long loan deal with Real Madrid, after the LaLiga giants’ first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered an ACL injury

Arrizabalaga, who kept 59 clean sheets in 163 matches for Chelsea, was not included in Chelsea’s squad for their 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

His surprise loan departure to Real Madrid means he has taken up another of the seven designated international loan spots allowed per club.

David Datro Fofana, Angelo Gabriel and Gabriel Slonina have already gone out on loan with more expected to follow to Strasbourg.

In the Spanish goalkeeper’s place, the Blues have signed Sanchez from Brighton in a £25m transfer that was announced at the start of August.

He’ll join Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson as one of the new additions in Pochettino’s squad, but it appears the club are looking to add some more new faces before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea will step up their bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and fight Liverpool for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia over the coming hours.

Striker Deivid Washington is also due to arrive from Santos today ahead of his £17m move and a seven year contract.

On Sunday, the Blues also agreed a landmark £115m deal to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton, after they snatched their long-standing target away from Liverpool after weeks of negotiations and failed bids.

Their transfer fees will tip Chelsea’s spending under Todd Boehly and Clearlake’s stewardship towards the £1billion mark.

However, the word is that Boehly may consider taking a sideways step after this window. Boehly has been actively seeking new investment to help Chelsea move on to the next stage of their development.
