Two Nigerians In Trouble After Trafficking Young Girls To Europe For Prostitution

 

Two suspects, Gift Okon and Omokaro Valentine, have been remanded to a correctional centre by a High Court in Benin, Edo State.

They have been remanded for the alleged Trafficking of younger ladies to Europe for Prostitution and sexual exploitation.

The suspects have been arraigned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons on two counts of procuring and harbouring underage ladies for prostitution and exploitation opposite to Section 13(2) (b) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

NAPTIP’s counsel, Oburoh Okanigbuan, advised the court docket that someday in April 2023, the suspect procured underage twin sisters and indigene of Akwa Ibom State, understanding that they’d be subjected to prostitution and exploitation.

The counsel added that the suspects additionally harboured the dual sisters in a brothel in Benin for the aim of prostitution and exploitation.

The suspects pleaded not responsible when the costs have been learn to them and requested bail.

NAPTIP’s counsel prayed the court docket to remand the suspects in custody to allow the company to conclude the investigation and requested for a date to begin the listening to.

Justice Geraldine Imadegbelo, nonetheless, remanded the suspect to Benin correctional centre and adjourned the case until June 14 for listening to.
