Fans on Twitter reacted after Punjab Kings (PBKS) thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 42nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They won the game by 8 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday (26th April).

Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a dream start with the bat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Phil Salt (75) and Sunil Narine (71) came out all guns blazing and set the stage on fire. They added 138 runs for the opening partnership and laid a great platform for the power hitters. 

After that, Venkatesh Iyer (39) played a great hand before Andre Russell (24:12b, 2x2, 2x6) and Shreyas Iyer (28:10b, 1x4, 3x6) finished the innings on high. Kolkata Knight Riders posted a gigantic total of 261 runs on the board. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/45.

Punjab Kings made sure that they set the stage on fire right from the start. Prabhsimran Singh (54) and Jonny Bairstow (108*) added 93 runs for the opening wicket inside the six overs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, putting the home team under pressure. 

After Prabhsimran got out, Rilee Rossouw (26) played a vital hand as well. Jonny Bairstow then slammed a magnificent century whereas Shashank Singh (68*) supported him well. They added 84 runs for the third wicket and took the game away from Kolkata Knight Riders.  

Based on their sensational effort with the bat Punjab Kings chased the target with 8 wickets in hand. They also had 8 balls to spare and this was the highest-ever chase in the history of T20 cricket.
