SA vs BAN: Quinton de Kock Shatters Adam Gilchrist, AB de Villiers’ Huge Records Following 174-Run Knock

The 30-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has entered his name in record books following his fantastic batting performance in the 23rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh National Cricket Team the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, October 24.

Quinton de Kock is playing the last few matches of his ODI career in the ongoing edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup as the wicketkeeper-batter has announced his retirement from 50-over cricket.

De Kock had already quit Test cricket, but he will continue to represent the Proteas in T20I cricket, at least till the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batter has made sure to make his final ODI campaign with South Africa a memorable one by playing some of the greatest knocks of his career.

Quinton de Kock started off his tournament by hitting a century against Sri Lanka and then followed it up with yet another magnificent hundred against Australia. His bat was quiet in the next two matches as he registered scores of 20 and 4, but he bounced back strong in his fifth match against the Bangla Tigers.

Quinton de Kock was off to a cautious start against Bangladesh and he also lost his opening partner Reeza Hendricks early. Soon Rassie van der Dussen got out, but the wicketkeeper-batter stood strong on one end.

He stitched together an amazing 131 runs in 137 balls with Aiden Markram to bring South Africa into a dominant position in the match. Although he lost his skipper in the 31st over, he kept batting brilliantly and smashed a spectacular hundred.

Quinton de Kock also added a marvelous 142 runs in 87 balls with Heinrich Klaasen and together the duo destroyed the Bangladesh bowling unit. The Bangladesh bowlers didn’t do much wrong in the game and they were good with their lines and lengths but the Proteas batters were just a little too good in the match.

Quinton de Kock hit his half-century off 47 balls and then completed his ton off 101 balls. He then accelerated exceptionally well and smashed the Bangladesh bowlers all over the park to complete 150 runs off 129 balls.

He finished his innings with a score of 174 off 140 balls, with 15 fours and 7 sixes. His innings was a historic one as he created and shattered numerous records.
