IND vs NZ: Bizarre Scenes! Watch – India-New Zealand Clash Stopped Due To Foggy Conditions

A bizarre and rare moment occurred during the 21st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Tom Latham-led New Zealand National Cricket Team at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22.

During India’s run-chase, Foggy Conditions halted the play and the game was delayed due to inclement weather. Suddenly the weather in Dharamsala got hazy around 7:30 pm IST, but the play wasn’t stopped.

However, after some time the umpires were forced to stop the play when the conditions got worse and the players faced visibility issues. The score of India was 100 for 2 in 15.4 overs when the play was halted.

Thankfully, after a few minutes, things got back to normal and the play was resumed as the fog lifted and the visibility got better around 7:50 pm IST.

This was not the first time that a match was stopped due to foggy conditions as the fog had also halted the play during the 1998-99 Test series between Zimbabwe and the Men In Green in Pakistan.

New Zealand Post 273 Runs On The Board vs India

India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match considering the dew factor in the second innings. They were forced to make two changes to their playing XI after all-rounder Hardik Pandya got ruled out of the match due to an ankle injury.

Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav came in as replacements for Shardul Thakur and Hardik Pandya. The BlackCaps, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged playing XI.

The Men In Blue got off to a great start as they removed the Kiwi openers – Devon Conway and Will Young – for low scores.

However, Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra stitched together a sensational 159 runs in 152 balls to help New Zealand make a stunning comeback in the match. Daryl Mitchell smashed 130 runs off 127 balls, including 9 fours and 5 sixes, while Rachin Ravindra scored 75 runs off 87 balls, with 6 fours and 1 six. The Black Caps posted 273 runs on the board.

For India, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a sensational 5-wicket haul. Shami was playing his first World Cup 2023 game and made an instant impact with the ball.
