Brisbane Heat opener Grace Harris showcased her exceptional batting skills during the Women’s Big Bash League 2023 match against the Perth Scorchers. Grace Harris managed to smash a huge six even with a broken bat in the match, showing her remarkable prowess.
Grace Harris scored an unbeaten 136 runs off 59 deliveries at the North Sydney Oval on Sunday, October 22. The right-handed batter played a pivotal role in helping the team reach a mammoth total of 229/7, marking the second-highest team score in WBBL history.
The 30-year-old achieved her third WBBL century, making her one of only three cricketers to do so in WBBL history, joining Alyssa Healy and Sophie Devine. She recorded the highest score in WBBL history, surpassing the record set by Ash Gardner and Smriti Mandhana.

The incident occurred in the 14th over of the Brisbane Heat’s innings when Grace Harris’s bat split in half while she was hitting a six-over mid-wicket off Pippa Cleary’s bowling. The batter scored 70 runs off 37 balls with the old bat and added 66 more using the new bat.
“Do you need it now, Grace,” a teammate was heard to ask over Channel Seven’s commentary.
“Nah, stuff it, I’ll still hit it,” was Harris’ reply.

It’s A Very Good Ground For Batters – Grace Harris
Grace Harris shared her thoughts on playing at North Sydney, mentioning that it’s a favorable ground for batting and suits her style.
“North Sydney is always a great batting wicket. I believe it’s a very good ground for batters and a great size for myself so when I come here I just back myself in. There wasn’t too much overthinking out there today so it was fantastic,” Harris said.
“Minnie (du Preez) took the game on and was great support; she was picking up boundaries at the same time so I just said ‘just keep going the way we’re going and see what happens’. I knew we needed at least 180 on the wicket because it’s a very flat deck.”
