Sri Lankan fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has been the best bowler for his team during the match against the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023. Kasun Rajitha put extra pressure on the opposition team batters by taking the first three wickets that fell in the match.

The Netherlands decided to bat first after winning the toss at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, October 21. The Dutch team fielded the same lineup, while Sri Lanka made two changes, including Dushan Hemantha and Kasun Rajitha in the playing XI.

Sri Lankan new-ball bowlers troubled the opposition batters with their line and length. Kasun Rajitha claimed the wicket of opener Vikramjit Singh for four runs in the fourth over. The right-arm pacer went on to dismiss the other opener, Max O’Dowd, in his fifth over.

The 31-year-old dismissed Max O’Dowd on the last ball of the powerplay. O’Dowd tried a drive to a full delivery outside off, but it resulted in an inside edge that knocked the stumps. Rajitha’s consistent line and length throughout his long spell earned him wickets.

Rajitha was part of Sri Lanka’s lineup in their first match against Sri Lanka in Delhi. He had an expensive spell, managing just one wicket for 90 runs in his 10 overs. As a result, he was subsequently dropped from the playing XI for the next two matches in the event.

The Lankan Lions began the World Cup 2023 on a disappointing note, suffering three consecutive losses. The island nation is on the verge of becoming the first team to be eliminated from the event. They must win the remaining games to keep their chances alive.
