Babar Azam‘s reputation has suffered a significant blow due to his recent batting failures. In the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, the Pakistan captain has failed to lead his team from the front so far. He has constantly failed to deliver in pressure situations for his team so far.

In the first game against the Netherlands, the right-handed batsman walked out to bat after his team lost their first wicket cheaply but was out for just 5. Against Sri Lanka when Pakistan were chasing 345, Babar Azam came out to bat when Pakistan were reeling at 161 for 1. And he departed after scoring just 10 runs.

In the third game against India where Pakistan were batting first and were in a decent position, he scored a fifty but failed to capitalize on it. And on Friday (October 20), he endured another poor outing as Pakistan lost the crucial game against Australia by 62 runs.

Chasing an improbable total of 367 runs, Pakistan were off to a good start. Their openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq shared a big stand of 134 runs for the first wicket before Marcus Stoinis broke the stand. Babar Azam had the perfect platform to score big and guide his team to a historic win. However, the Pakistan captain could manage only 18 runs before Adam Zampa sent him back.

Not very long ago, Babar Azam was constantly compared with Virat Kohli who is widely regarded as one of the best if not the best batsman of this generation. But his constant failures especially in pressure situations are taking a toll on his reputation. And it looks like former India spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that the Pakistan batsman cannot be compared with Kohli.

Reacting to a post on X, Harbhajan Singh indirectly stated that Babar Azam is still not at Kohli’s level and should learn from him. He was sharing his views on a post from a journalist who wrote: “Babar Azam had to win this for Pakistan. Like Virat Kohli has been doing in big run chases for more than a decade.”

Harbhajan, on the other hand, wrote: “Kohli is a Modren days legend without a question . Scored runs in every situation and conditions and won game for India .. Babar and many others should learn from King kohli ✌️baat khatam . Koi shak anyone ?”
