Star English fast bowler Jofra Archer has joined the Jos Buttler-led squad for their match against South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made the announcement of Jofra Archer joining the national team for the marquee event.
Jofra Archer is not included in the 15-member squad for the ICC tournament in India. However, the right-arm pacer is designated as a traveling reserve and could potentially be included in the squad if the English team faces any injury issues in the forthcoming weeks.
Archer was a crucial part of England’s 2019 World Cup-winning team, becoming the leading wicket-taker for the team in the mega tournament. He performed exceptionally well, taking 20 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 24.55 and an impressive economy rate of 4.77.

Jofra Archer, who has been absent from international cricket due to injury for the past year, has reunited with the England team in Mumbai. He is expected to continue training with the team in India over the next few weeks as he works towards regaining full fitness.

The 28-year-old returned to limited-overs cricket for England this year but struggled with form and rhythm. He played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL but faced another injury setback. Archer was then ruled out of the entire English summer season due to a new injury.
England Are Doing A Great Job – Brendon McCullum
English Test team coach Brendon McCullum expressed confidence in England’s ability to bounce back in the 2023 World Cup despite a disappointing start. McCullum emphasized the importance of sticking to their aggressive approach despite the setbacks.
“They just need to stay true to their method and their style which has brought them so much success and not get shaken by the odd bad day at the office. Of course the boys would have liked to be 3 and 0, but sport doesn’t work like that and sometimes you have to cope with challenges and then show how good you are.”
“One thing is for sure, there are good reasons why England have won two World Cups recently. They are doing a great job. It is a World Cup, so there is going to be the odd upset and that is what you want in a tournament like this. Look at what happened to South Africa. That was a strong win from the Dutch and there will be other unexpected results before the tournament is over.”
