Team India Bowling Coach Paras Mhambrey offered high praise for Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed ahead of the India-Bangladesh clash in the World Cup 2023. Mhambrey emphasized that Taskin Ahmed has consistently performed well across various venues in recent years.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will face Bangladesh in their fourth match of the World Cup at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19. The Men in Blue have won all three of their matches, while the Shakib Al Hasan-led team has won one out of three games.

Taskin Ahmed Is A Very Good Bowler – Paras Mhambrey

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Paras Mhambrey acknowledged Taskin Ahmed’s excellent performance as a fast bowler on various surfaces, including challenging pitches in Bangladesh.

“To be honest what I have seen in the last few years, Taskin, I think is a good fast bowler worldwide. He has played and performed well in different venues and different surfaces,” Mhambrey told the media.

“It’s never an easy surface in Bangladesh, which is not too seamer-friendly. So, on that aspect whatever he has achieved, I think he is a very good bowler,” he further added.

Taskin Ahmed has taken two wickets in three matches at an average of 63 and an economy rate of 6.30. He remained wicketless against New Zealand in the recent match in Chennai. Overall, he has secured 92 ODI wickets in 66 games with an average of 29.98.

Shakib Al Hasan’s Availability Remains Uncertain

The Shakib Al Hasan-led team began their World Cup campaign with a convincing six-wicket victory against Afghanistan in Dharamshala. However, the Bangla Tigers faced consecutive defeats against England and New Zealand in the next two matches of the event.

Shakib Al Hasan’s availability for the crucial match remains uncertain. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha stated that they will make a final decision on Shakib’s participation on Thursday. They are unwilling to risk playing the spin-bowling all-rounder if he isn’t fully fit.
