India National Cricket Team vice-captain and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya finally revealed the truth about what he whispered to the ball before taking a huge wicket in the high-octane World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan.
Hardik Pandya was part of a viral moment in the match on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He dismissed the Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq for 36 after he was off to a good start.
Hardik Pandya bowled a length ball that shaped away from Imam-ul-Haq and the batter only managed to get an outside edge while attempting a drive. The ball flew at the keeper KL Rahul who completed a fine catch. Hardik then gave Imam-ul-Haq a bye-bye send-off that got the attention of many.
However, that thing that grabbed even more eyeballs was his pre-delivery act. On the replays, it was shown that Hardik Pandya whispered something to the ball before sprinting off for the wicket-taking delivery.
“Accha wo kya kiya, wo Maine badi saral tareeke se apne aap ko thodi baatein ki jo… Basically, gaaliyan di khud ko aur length better daalne ko bola,” Hardik Pandya said.
“Arey mai khud ko motivate kar raha tha ki thoda jagah pe bowling daalo, jda cheeze karne mat jao,” he added.
(Roughly translates to: I talked to myself, basically abused myself and told myself to bowl better length,” he said. “I was motivating myself to bowl properly without trying too many things.)

Meanwhile, the India National Cricket Team crushed the Pakistan National Cricket Team by 7 wickets with 117 balls to spare to extend their winning streak in 50-over World Cups against Pakistan to 8-0.
Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma credited his bowlers for setting up the game for India. He said that his role as a skipper is very important in utilizing his bowling resources on a given day. He said:
“The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190-pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job.”
