ENG vs BAN: Match Preview– ICC World Cup 2023, Match 7. The ENG vs BAN ICC World Cup 2023 match will be played in Dharamsala on October 10. The match starts at 10.30 am IST and is the seventh match of this World Cup campaign and the second for Bangladesh at this venue.

Bangladesh are led by Shakib Al Hasan. Under his leadership, the Tigers earned a comfortable win in their first game against Afghanistan. However, the campaign just gets tougher for them from hereon with bigger oppositions awaiting.

Engalnd are led by Jos Buttler. They need to get over their loss against New Zealand and go all out for a big win against Bangladesh. They have dominated the Tigers in the past winning 19 out of the 24 ODIs played. However, in World Cup matches, the teams share a 2-2 head-to-head count.

Having played their first game in Dharamsala, Bangladesh have a better idea about the conditions for the ENG vs BAN match. They will bank on their spin attack to outwit England’s approach with the bat.

The ICC World Cup 2023 started on October 5. 48 matches will be played in the tournament across 10 venues in India spread across a month and a half. The top 10 teams are playing in the tournament, namely, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, and the Netherlands. The final will be played on November 19.

England

England played their strongest XI without Ben Stokes in the campaign opener against New Zealand. He was out with a niggle and the team would dearly want him back for the second game.

His return to the side will be a huge morale boost for the side. Being the Test captain and the man who won England the World Cup title last time around, his all-round skills will be a huge bonus for his team. If he returns to the Xi, Haryy Brook might be made to sit out.

England needs to be more potent with their bowling against Bangladesh, Their bowling was easily negated by the Kiwi batters in the first game. They did play Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, and Liam Livingstone in the first game and the spinners will need to take the onus of taking wickets as shown by Bangladesh at their venue against Afghanistan. They have a good seam attack and the conditions should benefit them as well, especially with the new ball.

Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes

Bangladesh

Spin will continue to be their biggest strength throughout the tournament, Irrespective of the conditions, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan will be the two biggest wicket-takers for the tea,m. Depending on the conditions and the team combinations, they might think of fielding three spinners with Mahmudullah being the other spin option. Mustafizur Rahman with his chance ups will be the team’s biggest strength among the seamers.

Bangladesh need to be wary about their batting. In the past, they have had batting collapses in World Cups. They lost four wickets in their run chase of 156. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das are the two best batters in the side along with the experienced Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim. Mahmudullah is their designated finisher. Mehidy Hasan has turned himself into a useful all-rounder in the last year.
