SA vs SL: Watch – Tabraiz Shamsi Hilariously Punched By Teammate During South Africa vs Sri Lanka World Cup Clash

The 33-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi was hilariously punched by his teammate during the South Africa vs Sri Lanka match in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, October 7.

Star left-arm wrist-spinner Shamsi was the unlucky one to miss out on the playing XI as the Proteas decided to field a 4-man pace attack with Keshav Maharaj being the lone spinner in the playing XI.

Although Tabraiz Shamsi wasn’t part of the playing XI, he was multiple times seen on the screen as he was carrying the drinks for his teammates, and the spinner’s brilliant reactions to South Africa batters’ incredible boundary-hitting were also caught on camera.

A hilarious moment involving Tabraiz Shamsi took place in the match when Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen were annihilating the Sri Lankan bowlers in the 29th over. As the camera panned towards, the wrist-spinner ahead of the final ball of the 29th over, he was seen hilariously getting punched by one of his teammates.

Wanted to win the game and that’s exactly what we did – Temba Bavuma

South Africa won the game against Sri Lanka in a dominant fashion by 102 runs to open their campaign on a high. They scored 428 runs in the first innings riding on the back of Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Rassie van der Dussen’s brilliant tons, and then bowled out the opposition for 326.

Speaking after the match, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said that they will take the confidence of the win in their next game. He said:

“Happy. Wanted to win the game and that’s exactly what we did. It was a clinical performance and give us good confidence going into the next game. It did seamed a bit under lights, but the ball was coming on nicely and you could see how they (the batters) were able to use the pace nicely.”

Quinton de Kock didn’t field after his sensational century in the match and Temba Bavuma revealed that the wicketkeeper-batter is absolutely fine and is having no injury concerns. He said:

“It was all about adjusting to the conditions and we thought it is going to be a bit variable in the second half. If we can take these learnings and we need to adapt whatever is in front of us. Next game I don’t think (the pitch) is going to be too different. Quinton will be fine, didn’t take the field (in the second innings), but I think he will be fine (for the next game).”
