IND vs AUS: Aaron Finch Believes Australia Will Be More At Ease Against Ishan Kishan Than Shubman Gill In Powerplay

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch believes that there are some technical errors in Indian batter Ishan Kishan’s game. Aaron Finch has insisted that Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood should exploit Ishan Kishan’s weakness in their first match of the World Cup.

Young Indian opener Shubman Gill is uncertain for the India-Australia match due to a high fever. Ishan Kishan could open the innings if Shubman fails to recover in time. The match is scheduled to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.

Ishan Kishan Has A Few Technical Flaws – Aaron Finch

Speaking to Star Sports, Aaron Finch highlighted Ishan Kishan’s vulnerability to outswing due to his front foot movement. However, Finch acknowledged that Ishan could deliver a strong performance once he settled at the crease.

“Starc and Hazlewood. I would go with that selection if I have to bowl to the left-hander. The out swing to Ishan because I still think he has a few technical faults he still hasn’t quite ironed out over the last while.

“His front foot closes up quite a bit so if he can swing it early, they can get him. Once he gets in, he moves beautifully. But just those initial balls though, he tends to get vulnerable,” Finch told Star Sports.

Shubman Gill Can Hit Best Balls – Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch believes that Australia might be more comfortable bowling to Ishan Kishan in the powerplay compared to facing Shubman Gill.

“What’s going to stand out in this World Cup is the depth of these squads. Most teams are going with an idea what their ideal XI is but that doesn’t always go to plan.

“There are injuries, fatigue as it’s a long tournament. Still, India would be pretty comfortable. The difference will be the fear factor Shubman Gill puts into the Australian tea,” Finch added.

“He is someone who Australia at times really struggle to bowl to in any format because he has no weaknesses. He is somebody who can hit your best balls.

“He dominates spin, left-arm pacer, right-arm pace so I think that will be the only difference. Australia will be a little more comfortable bowling to Ishan Kishan in the powerplay,” he concluded.

Shubman Gill has a strong recent record against Australia in the ODI series from last month. The right-handed batter registered scores of 74 and 104 in the first two ODIs, respectively. He was rested for the final ODI to manage his workload.
