Pakistan Cricket Team have been extremely poor on the field in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 warmup game against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Their sloppiness on the field has cost them few runs and has left fans in splits.
Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan even though have kept things tight with the ball, their fielding has cost them a bit of runs. The latest culprit was none other than batter Iftikhar Ahmed, who made a mess of himself as the ball raced away to the boundary.
The incident took place on the 4th ball of the 32nd over when Mohammad Nawaz bowled a full delivery on middle and leg. Glenn Maxwell attempted a switch hit and got a bottom edge. Iftikhar Ahmed, who was in the slips, anticipated it earlier and moved to his right.
However, he fell as he tried to stop the ball. The ball raced away to the boundary as he kept looking at it. Here’s the video of the full incident:

Pakistan earlier in the game produced a horrendous effort as Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mohammad Nawaz ran into each other and made a mess of it as they attempted to save an early boundary.
Notably, Pakistan have a history of producing bizarre efforts. They have often been trolled for their poor performances on the field. They recently had a poor outing in the field in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023.
Earlier in the game, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan have rested Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Shadab Khan is captaining today. They have been on top with the ball as they sent all four guns of Australia in David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne early in the hut.

Glenn Maxwell has changed the course of the game in no time. Australia were left tottering at 172/5 and it was the all-rounder who held the fort and took the attack to Pakistan pacers. The batter slammed a vital half-century and was looking strong.
Pakistan however, would be livid with themselves with the way they have performed on the field. It’ll be a great learning for them and surely fielding would be the one area they would be looking to improve going into the main tournament.
