Nepal bowler Karan KC came up with an innovative idea to counter India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal during the recently concluded game between the two sides in the ongoing Asian Games.

The flat pitches, small boundaries, and thick bats have made it tough for the bowlers to contain the batsmen. The bowlers consistently find themselves in need of new strategies, especially when they are bowling on a ground with smaller boundaries. The venue for the ongoing Asian Games has turned out to a challenging one so far for the bowlers.

Last week, Nepal smashed a record 314 runs against Mongolia in 20 overs with Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee slamming the fastest-ever T20I century and half-century respectively. And on Tuesday (October 6), Nepal found themselves on the receiving end against India as Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad gave the team a good start.

Karan KC comes up with an innovative idea:

It took India less than four overs to reach the fifty as the openers laid the foundation for a big total. And when Karan KC came to bowl his second over, he decided to do something that is usually not seen on a cricket field – bowling from well behind the stumps.

Karan KC was taken out of the attack after just one over. He bowled the second over of the match and conceded 15 runs as Yashasvi Jaiswal hit him for two sixes. He was reintroduced into the attack in the eighth over and Jaiswal welcomed him by hitting him for two fours.

After those two fours, Karan KC decided to come up with a new strategy. He bowled the fifth ball of the over from behind the stumps, taking the India opener by surprise.

Talking about the game, India beat Nepal by 23 runs in the quarterfinal to book a place in the semifinal. Batting first, India scored 2o2 for 4 in 20 overs with Jaiswal scoring 100 runs off 49 balls. In reply, Nepal finished on 179 for 9.
