Pakistan are currently locking horns with Australia in the warmup game of the ICC World Cup 2023. For Men in Green, Babar Azam has been rested and Shadab Khan Is captaining the team at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.

Pakistan lost the toss and was asked to field first. Shadab Khan, who is vice-captain of the team, made a hilarious remark at the toss while mentioning about regular captain Babar Azam. The leg-spinner hilariously said that he will his captain has been rested but he will sure that he fields.

Speaking at the toss, Shadab Khan said: “Babar is okay. He wanted to rest. Rizwan is resting as well. I will make Babar field and carry drinks (laughs). I am that sort of captain. We are like a family. We are best friends. That’s the beauty of our team. We will win or lose as a team. Winning is always a habit. We want a win. Great opportunity for our team to get some confidence from here.”

This will be the second and last warmup game for Pakistan ahead of the main tournament. The Men in Green recentlyplayed a warmup match against New Zealand. They had a decent outing in the game. Although they lost the match but they rectified the areas that they needed to ahead of the tournament.

The expectations of Pakistani fans are always high – Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan recently addressed the press conference in Hyderabad. He admitted that Pakistan will have high expectations in the ICC World Cup 2023. Adding that it’ll also be an opportunity to become a superstar.

Shadab Khan also opened up about the warm welcome that Pakistan got. The leg-spinner also talked about the food that he enjoyed in Hyderabad.

He explained: “The expectations of Pakistani fans are always high from the players who wear Pakistani jersey. WorldCup is an opportunity to become a superstar and hero globally. We received a warm welcome by indian fans on airport and outside hotel. We felt very happy with the reception in India.

“The food in Hyderabad is very delicious. We are afraid of gaining weight by the end of WorldCup. We are enjoying relaxing and having a good time in India. We look forward to similar warm hospitality by indian fans when we play against India in Ahmedabad.”

Shadab Khan was in a horrendous form ahead of the World Cup. However, with the kind of ability he has he will be one of the crucial aspects for the team going into the tournament. Pakistan will open their campaign against the Netherlands on 6th October in Hyderabad.
