Star Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf recalled his experience as a net bowler for the Indian cricket team, specifically bowling to Virat Kohli. Haris Rauf expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli’s extraordinary concentration and focus, even during practice sessions.

Haris Rauf gained recognition following his impressive stint with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League. The pacer was called up as a net bowler by the Indian team during their 2018-19 tour of Australia, where he had the opportunity to bowl to star Indian batters.

Virat Kohli Was Very Focused – Haris Rauf

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Haris Rauf lauded Virat Kohli’s dedication, stating that his practice sessions felt like playing in a real match. Rauf added that this experience helped him understand why Kohli is renowned in the cricket world.

“When I was a net bowler for the Indian team and was bowling to Virat Kohli, I felt like he knew exactly where the ball was going to hit his bat. He was very focussed and that showed how sharp his concentration was,” Rauf said in ESPNcricinfo’s documentary The Incredible rise of Haris Rauf.

“Even during practice sessions in the nets, it felt like I was playing a match against him, despite being a net bowler. His remarkable control and intensity made me realise why he has such a reputation in the game.”

Virat Kohli delivered a masterclass performance against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Kohli smashed two consecutive sixes off Haris in the last two balls of the penultimate over when 28 runs were required.

Dale Steyn Is My Idol – Haris Rauf

Haris Rauf revealed South African fast bowler Dale Steyn as his inspiration, emphasizing his aggressive on-field attitude following wicket-taking moments.

“I used to watch Dale Steyn and I liked the way he used to show aggression on the field after picking up a wicket. He inspired me to be aggressive on the field. That’s why he is my idol,” Rauf added.
