Virat Kohli To Miss Warm-up vs Netherlands? India Land In Thiruvananthapuram Without Star Batter: Reports

India National Cricket Team have reached Thiruvananthapuram for their second warm-up fixture of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. However, they landed in the Kerala capital without the former all-format captain and batting maestro, Virat Kohli.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is the 13th edition of the 50-over Cricket World Cup. The competition is scheduled to be held from October 5 to November 19 in India. Ahead of the main competition, all the teams have been given two warm-up matches each to play and get used to the Indian conditions.

The Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team’s first warm-up game was against the Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Saturday, September 30.

India won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. However, just a few minutes after the toss it started to rain and the ground staff rushed in with the covers. No play was possible on the day due to rain and the teams returned to their hotels and the umpires decided to call off the game.

India National Cricket Team will next take on the Netherlands National Cricket Team on October 3 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

India Land In Thiruvananthapuram Without Virat Kohli

On Sunday, October 1, the India National Cricket Team landed in Thiruvananthapuram ahead of the Netherlands clash. Many fans gathered outside the airport to cheer for the star players as they walked out of the terminal and got into the team bus.

Meanwhile, India’s coaching staff led by Rahul Dravid as well as captain Rohit Sharma alongside his teammates were seen arriving at the team hotel where they received a warm welcome. However, there were no signs of star batter Virat Kohli, which led to speculations of him missing the fixture against Netherlands.

According to a report in Sportstar, Virat Kohli didn’t travel with the team to Thiruvananthapuram but he is set to have a late arrival. Reportedly, Virat Kohli will be available for the warm-up game.

India would be hoping that the match against the Netherlands doesn’t get washed out as there are predictions of rain over the next couple of days in the city. If there is no rain, India will have a training session on Monday, according to the same report.
