Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma To Be Shown The ODI Exit After ICC World Cup 2023? Here’s What Yuvraj Singh Wants Indian Management To Do

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh candidly shared his thoughts on how senior players are treated in Indian cricket. Yuvraj Singh suggested that senior cricketers, who have dedicated everything to the country, deserve to be informed about their future prospects.

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri emphasized the importance of a gradual transition for some senior players out of the white-ball cricket setup. Ravi Shastri suggested integrating younger talent into the squad to groom them for future competitions.

They Have Given Their Heart And Soul For The Country – Yuvraj Singh

Speaking to The Week, Yuvraj Singh emphasized the importance of open communication and respect for senior cricketers. Singh said that they have given their heart and soul to the country.

“If Ravi Shastri says seniors should be phased out, then someone should also tell it to the seniors. The problem in India is the seniors are not told. They have given their heart and soul for the country and they deserve respect. You need to have that talk that ‘Look, it might be hard on you, but maybe you might not be looked at.'”

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have been integral to the limited-overs cricket team for over 15 years, are nearing the later phases of their careers. The management is expected to implement a strategic transition plan for these key players.

We Have A Very Good Chied Selector – Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh expressed satisfaction with Ajit Agarkar’s appointment as India’s new chief selector, stating that he can effectively convey clear messages to the players.

“We have a very good chief selector now (Agarkar) who has played for the country for a long time. I feel he can have that tough conversation and tell the seniors where they’re at if the plan is to bring in youngsters. Tell the guys where they are.”

The World Cup 2023 might be the final outing in an ICC ODI event for Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli’s participation in the 2027 WC remains uncertain. India will be hoping to end their decade-long trophy drought in the presence of Rohit and Virat.
