ICC World Cup 2023: Full List Of Changes In Final World Cup Squads Of All Teams From Provisional Squads

All the Squads for the ICC World Cup 2023 were finalized by the teams on Thursday, September 28, which was kept as the deadline for teams to make changes to their World Cup squads, as per the ICC’s regulations.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held from October 5 to November 19 in India. This is the first time India will be hosting an ICC Cricket World Cup alone. They previously co-hosted the World Cups with other countries in 1987, 1996, and 2011.

A total of 10 teams will take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Eight teams qualified for the 46-day event through the Cricket World Cup Super League standings while the rest of the two spots were decided after the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.

India, South Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan, England, Bangladesh, Australia, and New Zealand qualified based on Cricket World Cup Super League standings while Sri Lanka and the Netherlands qualified after the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to be played across 12 different venues in the country. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Mumbai, Pune, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram are the 12 venues for matches. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will only host warm-up matches.

ICC World Cup 2023: 4 Teams Make Changes To Their Squad

A total of 4 teams made at least one change to their squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. Starting from the hosts, India included Ravichandran Ashwin in their 15-man ICC World Cup 2023 squad on 28 September as a replacement for spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel, who got ruled out of the tournament due to a left quadriceps strain he suffered during India’s Asia Cup Super Four clash against Bangladesh.

Australia National Cricket Team, who recently lost to India in a three-match ODI series, also made one forced change to their ICC World Cup 2023 squad on 28 September. Spinner Ashton Agar was ruled out of the tournament with a calf injury and Marnus Labuschagne was added to the team as a batting cover as Travis Head, who is in the squad is carrying an injury and will be unavailable for the first half of the ICC World Cup 2023.

South Africa National Cricket Team also faced injury concerns and they were forced to make two changes to their squad as Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala got ruled out of the tournament due to their respective injuries.

South Africa named Andile Phehlukwayo and Lizaad Williams as replacements on 21 September. The fourth and final team to make a change to their final squad from the provisional squad was England. The defending champions brought in Harry Brook as a replacement for Jason Roy on 17 September.
