Mohammad Amir has failed to make the cut for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Pakistan, on Friday (September 22), announced their 15-member squad for the tournament. The upcoming edition of the ODI World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19 in India.
Mohammad Amir’s international career is completely off the track at the moment. In 2020, the left-arm pacer had sensationally announced his retirement from international cricket.
The fast-bowler took the decision after his fallout with former coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis. He did not share a cordial relationship with the PCB chairman and CEO in 2020, Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan either.
But while Mohammad Amir retired from international cricket, he has continued playing in franchise cricket across the world. At present, he is plying his trade for Jamaica Tallawahs in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. The former Pakistan international has proved his class once again by performing well in the CPL. With 15 wickets from 9 games, he is the third leading wicket-taker in the CPL.
Mohammad Amir not to play in World Cup 2023:
While Mohammad Amir is busy playing in the CPL, reports emerged that he might earn a shock recall from the Pakistan team for the World Cup after his recent impressive displays. With Naseem Shah ruled out of World Cup due to an injury, PCB sought an apt replacement for the fast-bowler and Mohammad Amir emerged as the front-runner, according to several reports from Pakistan.

The rumours only increased after Mohammad Hafeez resigned from his post as an honorary member of the PCB technical committee after a meeting. In the past, Hafeez had refused to play with the pacer due to his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal. However, the PCB has decided against recalling Mohammad Amir and has instead picked up Hassan Ali to replace Naseem in the squad.
And as Mohammad Amir failed to make it to the Pakistan squad, the fans could not stop themselves from expressing their disappointment.
