South Africa National Cricket Team have suffered a major blow as their star pacer Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023 as per the reports. The fast bowler has been suffering from a lower back issue and has been deemed unfit to play cricket further.
If the reports in Cricket Times emerge to be true then it’ll be a big setback for the South Africa Cricket Team. Anrich Nortje has been the mainstay of the Proteas bowling attack for the last few years and has won many games for the team with his staggering bowling performances.
Anrich Norjte also missed the ODI series against Australia due to the injury and it is learned that he won’t be fit for the ICC World Cup 2023. This, however, won’t be the first time that he will miss the mega event. He also was ruled ahead of the 2019 edition in England due to a fractured thumb, with Chris Morris replacing him.

With Anrich Nortje all set to miss the ICC World Cup 2023, it’ll be a great headache for South Africa as to who can replace him. They gave opportunities to quite a few youngsters in the five-match ODI series against Australia. It is likely that one among them will be on a flight to India.
Anrich Nortje has a great record in ODIs. He has represented South Africa in 22 ODI matches, claiming 36 wickets at an average of 27.27. His absence surely will leave a massive void in the team for the ICC World Cup 2023 as his pace on Indian conditions would be handy.

South Africa recently named their provisional squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. CSA’s Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe shared his thoughts on the squad and said:
“The World Cup is the pinnacle for every player, no matter what the sport is. As a boy it is something you dream of and I’m sure these players will be all be feeling extremely proud today.
“I would like to congratulate all of them on their selection and I am sure they will represent the Proteas badge with distinction and honour. We have no doubt they will give everything in India and do their best to try and bring the trophy home.”
