Indian opener Shubman Gill brought up his fifth ODI ton and his first against Bangladesh in the final Super 4 game of Asia Cup 2023. With wickets falling at the other end, he has kept India in the game chasing 266 for victory.
India lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the very first over. Since then, the Men in Blue have lost wickets at regular intervals with Gill going strong at the other end. During his innings, he also went past 1000 ODI runs in the calendar year of 2023.
Three of the top-order Indian batters were dismissed for ducks. In between, he added a 57-run stand with KL Rahul (19) and a 45-run stand with Suryakumar Yadav (26).

Shubman Gill is a generational talent. Expect him to smash the record books in the coming years. Currently the only batter in ODIs with an average of 60plus and a strike-rate of 100plus. Early days but still some record!

The Bangladesh spinners have kept a check on the Indian run-scoring by taking three wickets in the middle-order. Debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib has taken two so far.
Bangladesh after being 59/4 ended up scoring a competitive 265/8 in their 50 overs. Shakib and Towhid added a 101-run stand for the sixth wicket. Thereafter there were handy contributions from Nasum Ahmed (44), Mahedi Hasan (29), and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (14 off 8) taking The Tigers to a respectable total. India now need 266 to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament.
India have already reached the finals of the Asia Cup 2023 with wins against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are already out of the tournament but putting up a fight against the Men in Blue.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first. They made as many as five changes with Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah rested from this game.
In came Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Shami, and Tilak Varma. Varma is making his ODI debut for India. He was dismissed for just five on his ODI debut.
