Jasprit Bumrah is back fully fit to lead the Indian pace attack. He missed the previous Asia Cup edition. Mohammed Shami and Mohd Siraj are back as well with Shardul Thakur also a part of the squad. Kuldeep Yadav is the specialist spinner. Yuzvendra Chahal unfortunately has been snubbed.
Pakistan’s bowling attack is what sets them apart from the other teams in the Asia Cup. With this bowling attack, they certainly will have the edge over the other teams. Their batters need to give their bowlers a good total to set up the game for the side. Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf will make things difficult for the Indian batters.
Pakistan have announced its Asia Cup 2023 squad with Babar Azam leading the side. They clean-swept Afghanistan in an ODI series heading into the tournament. The Men in Green last won an Asia Cup title in 2012.
India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series since 2008. They only meet each other in the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments. In the last two years, the rivalry between the two teams have intensified with Pakistan beating India in the T20 World Cup 2021 and Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 stage. India’s T20 World Cup win against them at the MCG is still fresh in the memory of Indian fans.
