ICC World Cup 2023: Makhaya Ntini Praises Temba Bavuma’s Leadership Skills, Says “Not Many Give Him The Credit He Deserves”

Former South African player Makhaya Ntini heaped praise on Temba Bavuma for his leadership skills and said that the Proteas skipper doesn’t get enough credit for his work.

Temba Bavuma made his ODI debut in 2015 against Ireland and went on to play 26 50-over matches for the Proteas where he has scored 1150 runs with a strike rate of 91.63.

Bavuma played his first Test match in 2014 against West Indies and has appeared in 56 long-format cricket matches, scoring 2997 runs.

In the shortest cricket format, the Proteas skipper made his debut in 2019 against India and has played 33 matches from which he scored 635 runs.

Before arriving in India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, Temba Bavuma-led South Africa will take on Australia in a five-match ODI series which will help them to prepare for the prestigious trophy.

While speaking to Revsportz, Makhaya Ntini praised the Proteas skipper and said that he is an excellent captain and doesn’t get enough credit.

Makhaya Ntini further said that he is an important man manager who can lead the team in difficult situations. Ntini accepted that the South African team had a problem with management, however, said that Bavuma had managed well till now.

The former cricket player further praised the Proteas skipper and said that he knows how to bring the best out of a player.

“He is an excellent captain. Not many give him the credit he deserves. He reads the game well and bats well. Most importantly, he is a good man manager. In South Africa, we know there have been issues with man-management in the past. But with Bavuma, it is one strong flock. That’s what captaincy should be about. Getting the best out of your teammates and getting their respect as leader,” Makhaya Ntini said.

The upcoming ODI World Cup will begin on October 5th, however South Africa will begin their journey on October 7th against Sri Lanka at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The Proteas will take on India on November 5th and the match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
