Cricket legend, Vivian Richards heaped praise on Rohit Sharma ahead of India’s Asia Cup 2023 journey and said that the 36-year-old Men in Blues skipper is highly skilled.
On Monday (August 21), Rohit Sharma and the chief selector Ajit Agarkar held a press conference where the 17-member squad of India for the Asia Cup 2023 was announced.

Rohit Sharma will be leading the Men in Blues squad in the upcoming Asia Cup which will be hosted by Pakistan but since India has an ongoing political turmoil going on with the neighboring country, BCCI refused to participate in the tournament following which a decision was taken that Sri Lanka will also host the tournament.
Currently, Rohit Sharma and other team members have reached the training camp before the Asia Cup in Alur. All the squad members will go through a thorough fitness check during that so that the players stay fit in the upcoming months.
Meanwhile, Vivian Richards applauded the India skipper and said that Rohit is a magnificent player. The 71-year-old added that he likes Rohit Sharma a lot for his high ability to make decisions and because the 36-year-old always expresses himself.
“Rohit Sharma is a magnificent player, I like him a lot, he is a man with a highly skilled individual. I always like guys who go out there and express themselves,” the 71-year-old said on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.

During the press conference on Monday, the India skipper talked about flexibility in the squad and clarified himself and said that it is not like sending the number seven batsman to open.
“When I said flexibility is important, it’s not like I’m implying sending the opener at No. 7 or opening the batting with Hardik Pandya,” the 36-year-old said.
Rohit Sharma has a tough job in the upcoming days, as just after Asia Cup 2023, India will host the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, and the Men in Blues will be giving their everything to win the tournament since they have not won a single ICC event in the past 10 years.
India will start their Asia Cup journey against Pakistan on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
