IND vs WI: Watch – India Stars Left Confused During 3rd ODI Over Change in ‘Umpire’s Call’ After DRS

Bouncing back in style after the loss in the second ODI, Team India, on Tuesday (August 1), thrashed West Indies by 200 runs in the third and final game to clinch the three-match series.

In a one-sided contest, the Men in Blue thoroughly dominated the hosts and did not give them any opportunity. Apart from the toss, almost everything went right for Team India. Asked to bat first, the Hardik Pandya-led side scored 351 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs.

Openers Ishan Kishan (77) and Shubman Gill (85) laid the foundation for the big total by adding 143 runs for the first wicket. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to get going but Sanju Samson also scored a fifty to help India recover quickly. Towards the end of the innings, captain Pandya led the charge with the bat and played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs to help the team cross the 350-run mark.

In reply, West Indies were all out for a paltry total of 151 inside 36 overs. Six of the top seven batters could not even reach the double-digit mark as West Indies lost five wickets for just 40 runs before being reduced to 88 for 8. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie then shared a 55-run stand to help West Indies avoid humiliation. For India, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 37 runs while Mukesh Kumar picked up three wickets.

DRS controversy during third India-West Indies ODI:

While there was not much drama during the third ODI as India completely dominated it, one incident has become the talk of the town. It happened right towards the end of the game when India were just one wicket away from the win. In the 35th over, umpire Michael Gough gave Jayden Seales caught out.

The West Indies player had seemingly edged the Kuldeep Yadav delivery to the slip fielder. However, he decided to review the decision and replays showed that it was the umpire’s call on impact and the ball was hitting the stumps. There was confusion all around as the batsman was given not out because he was adjudged caught out at first. The umpire had to explain the decision to the Indian players who were heading towards the dressing room.
