Team India head coach Rahul Dravid stated that he wouldn’t be concerned about young batter Shubman Gill’s form amid his poor performances on the West Indies tour. Rahul Dravid hoped that Shubman Gill would have a good game with the bat in the third and final match against the Windies.
Shubman Gill started this year on a positive note, smashing runs in all three formats of the game. The right-handed batter scored five hundreds, including an ODI double hundred against New Zealand. He was the leading run-getter in the Indian Premier League (IPL), scoring 890 runs in 17 games.

However, Shubman Gill struggled in the WTC 2023 final against Australia last month. The 23-year-old batted at No. 3 in the two-match Test series against the West Indies and scored just 45 runs across three innings. He managed to score 7 runs and 34 runs in the first two games in the 50-over format.

I Wouldn’t Worry Too Much About Shubman – Rahul Dravid
Speaking after India’s six-wicket loss in Barbados, Rahul Dravid highlighted that the players can’t be criticized after every single game.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about Shubman. He is batting beautifully. He’s playing really well. He looks really good. It can happen. I mean, you can’t criticize people after every single game. These things can happen. It is tough, It’s not easy batting conditions,” Rahul Dravid said.
“We needed to grind it out and fight it out there. We probably didn’t do that during the middle overs. But Shubman has been batting well. He is a very important part of all the three formats in the game for us. Hopefully, he will have a good game in Trinidad,” he added.
Gill failed to convert his start into a big score as he was dismissed for 34 runs in the second ODI against the Windies. The Men in Blue were bundled out for just 181 runs and eventually suffered a 6-wicket loss at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, July 29.
