West Indies, after losing the first ODI, have made a remarkable comeback in the ongoing second match at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Put to bat first, India had a great start with the bat as stitched 90 runs partnership for the first wicket.
But after that Indian wickets fell like a pack of cards, thanks to some brilliant piece of batting and fielding by the West Indies. One of the best efforts on the field came from Keacy Carty, who held a brilliant catch to send Umran Malik packing for duck and jolt India further.

Alzarri Joseph bowled a short ball to which Umran Malik tried to pull for six. He mistimed the shot towards the deep square leg. Keacy Carty came running to his left and timed his dive to perfection to complete a magnificent catch.

After the wicket of Umran Malik, India lost Mukesh Kumar early and was bundled out just 181 runs. Ishan Kishan was the top scorer with his 55-run knock followed by Shubman Gill, who managed 34 runs. The rest of the batters struggled to get going.

IND vs WI: Speed Alone Cannot Be The Only Weapon – RP Singh Says Umran Malik Doesn’t Have Skills
Umran Malik of late has been leaking quite a few runs and hasn’t been able to make an impact, especially with the pace that he has. He was a touch expensive in the first ODI in the context of the game and also West Indies batter targeted him.
Former Indian pacer RP Singh made a bold statement on Umran Malik, saying that he will have to work on his skills as speed alone cannot be his weapon. He remarked that the fast bowler is not learning game plans quickly and is also conceding a lot of runs.
“You have a good number of matches before the World Cup. He can get 5-6 games in the Asia Cup, and three more matches (against Australia). Umran has the advantage of pace. But the issue with him is the skill — his deliveries do not move much. In international cricket, speed alone cannot be the only weapon. You have to make a game plan as well, and that is something he is not learning as quickly as he should.
“He also concedes a lot of runs. But he seems to be in the loop for the World Cup because he has the pace. But he should also get game-time. You cannot have someone playing one match and then sitting out for two. If you think Umran is a long-term option then he has to be polished accordingly,” he concluded.
