Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 57 on day 21 of the second Test in Trinidad. The Southpaw scored a fifty after scoring his maiden Test ton in his very first Test innings. He added a 139-run stand with skipper Rohit Sharma (80) to lay the foundation of a mammoth first innings total. By stumps, India reached 288/4 with Virat Kohli (86) and Ravindra Jadeja (36) unbeaten at stumps.
Shubman Gill (12) and Ajinkya Rahane (8) yet again fell cheaply but the day was about the likes of Jaidswal, Rohit, and Kohli dominating the West Indies bowlers. Kohli has already scored a century earlier this year and this is his second-highest score in Test cricket since 2020.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal lamented his missed opportunity of scoring back-to-back hundreds. He played 74 balls for his 57 hitting nine fours and a six. He scored his runs at a strike rate of 77.03.

“Of course I’m disappointed, but it happens in cricket. I’ve to keep learning and make sure what I can do the next time I come in that situation. It’s okay, it’s cricket. “Every time the desire is to ensure how well I can contribute and play well for the team. That’s the thought in every match – to set a good platform for the team” Jaiswal said at the end of the first day’s play at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
He further said that he always looks to bat longer and was disappointed when he got out. Jaiswal was out slashing a delivery from Jason Holder and was caught at gully by Kirk McKenzie.
“Whenever I bat, I always try to bat for long. There’s of course disappointment when we get out. It’s cricket, we need to keep learning what we can do next time. It’s always a pleasure to play for the country, to enjoy the pressure, to enjoy the situation, enjoy the wicket, the environment” Jaiswal said on his knock.
